The last two years were very challenging for the photography industry in Australia and Victoria in particular. The challenges that every wedding photographer faced in Melbourne mainly were related to the inability to do any photography work due to continuous lockdowns and restrictions. The situation heavily impacted the wedding planning process since many couples could not celebrate their Wedding and then decided to go to a small and spontaneously organised event instead.
Micro
Wedding is a new term for a small wedding that involves 10, 20 or sometimes
even fewer participants and last between one to two hours. The bride usually
completes the planning 1 to 3 months before the event, and the process is
significantly more straightforward for both the couple and the photographer. On
the other hand, the price that a photographer can charge for a 1-3 hour wedding
is significantly lower than for a full day wedding and requires adjusting the
business model to survive. It also requires more flexibility from the vendor.
Last
year's changes were very challenging for wedding photographers. However, it
also created new opportunities. We need to embrace the latest trends and adjust
our businesses to succeed in the future.
